Being the same age as Akina Nakamori, I know her heyday very well.
She was a cool idol with exceptional singing ability that set her apart from typical idol singers. At the time, she was a unique and innovative presence, and very popular.
Although I'm now in the senior generation, and I listen to more recent songs by artists like Ado and Phantom Siita than older songs, it's still wonderful when currently active singers cover songs by older artists!
I think Ado is definitely an Akina's fan, maybe originally because their voice tones are similar. She even sang two Akina's "B side" songs during her birthday live streaming karaoke last year.
You should also check Yoeko Kurahashi. She's another singer-songwriter that Ado mentioned as an influence and you can clearly see it while listening to "Sinking Town", that Ado also sang during that karaoke live streaming.
